Sunday Cycling 7th May, 2023

May is supposed to be warm. Saturday was, but today wasn’t. It was dull and cool. Numbers back to normal this week and I enjoyed the faster pace. I know why too! I only did a short spin on Wednesday last and no spin on Friday, so my legs were fresh.

Here’s the official report:

G3 fielded a team of 10 for the trip across the border to Co Cork. While group stalwart John is exploring South America we flew in Patrick from the USA to balance the numbers. We were delighted to welcome Donie to the group and he should be delighted with his maiden voyage!
A fast clip through Cappoquin, Lismore and onto Tallow where 2 carried straight on. 8 steadied themselves for the long drag up to Dungourney and the fast desert to Mogeeley where a left turn was taken for the backroad to Killeagh. Welcome refreshments were enjoyed and with no time to explore the local craft fair it was a lively spin back across the border to the Deise. 110k, scaling 900m at 27.7kph.

Group 3 Report.

Route: Lismore, Tallow, Dungorney, Castlemartyr, Youghal, Clashmore, Bog Road.

I’ll be resting up and getting an early night because myself and Marion are cycling Mahon Falls tomorrow. It’s been five years for me and it’s a first for Marion, with Scotty, her pedal assist ebike.

Monday afternoon update: All finished. Not a bother on either of us!

Changing my mind, one thought at at a time. You can too. Garden, bike and writing can be key. Ukan2.
